The minor pentatonic scale

- The minor pentatonic scale. The minor pentatonic scale is one of the greatest scales used for soloing on a lot of different styles of music and certainly for the blues. It's essential to just really get under your fingers and understand how to use this powerful scale. The word pentatonic obviously it has five notes to it, penta being the Greek word for five. And let's go though those notes now. So it's A, C, D, E, and G, if we base the scale off of A. And we're gonna play this is a full three octave shape and let's try this together. (guitar music) All right, so I suggest you guys practice playing that up and down, try to get faster at it, you know? (fast guitar music) There's a lot of different sequences that you could practice of it as well. But, the key is to how you use it. All right, let's look at the notes to understand the formula a little bit better. So, an A major scale has the notes A, B, C sharp, D, E, F sharp and G sharp.
