New chords: The dominant 7th

- All right, let's get back to chords for a little bit. Here is a new chord, the dominant seventh chord. Up to this point, we've done major, minor, we've done a few different qualities, but a seventh chord is extremely important. Often, you will just see a seventh at the end of a chord name, so it might just be like A7, or D7, but that actually means that it is a dominant seventh. The formula for that is 1, 3, 5 flat seven. That flat seventh is really what gives it that tonality. Let's check out a few common fingerings for the seventh. First, here's A7. (strumming chord) Here is a different fingering for A7. (strumming chord) Here is D7, which we've played already, but let's put this with these other chords, so that you can look at it under this light. (strumming chord) Now, here's E7.
