- "Love" is not a word you hear at work very often. I'm a seasoned HR pro, and many of my colleagues in human resources would say that love is the last thing we need at work. You might not want to say the word "love" around an employment lawyer either. They want rigid boundaries, clear rules of engagement, and emotional social distancing so that nobody gets confused about roles, responsibilities, and power. And yet, research at Harvard has discovered that employees who feel loved at work perform better, are more committed to customer service, and, most importantly, stay. Now, the researchers were focused on companionate love, not romantic love. They studied warmth, affection, connection, not passion. Definitely not passion.
