- [Instructor] Welcome to another tip and trick for AutoCAD. We're going to be taking a look at how we calculate areas using polylines, boundaries, and hatches. Now for that, we've got a new drawing for you. It's called 325 Calculate Areas.dwg. And if you've been following my tips and tricks for a while now, you'll know the drill. Download the drawing, and you can use it to follow along with this particular tips and tricks video. Now when you open up this drawing, it'll look a bit weird. We've got some kind of random shapes going on as you can see. And all of these are geometry in an AutoCAD drawing where we can play around with polylines, boundaries and hatches. Now the first thing we're going to look at is how can we calculate areas using polylines? Well, one, there's a really nice feature in AutoCAD called QuickCalc and you can run it from the properties palette. So what I'm going to do, I'm going to go to the view tab…
