- [Instructor] Welcome to another tip and trick for AutoCAD. We're going to be taking a look at how we can calculate simple areas utilizing polylines in our AutoCAD drawings. Now we have got a drawing ready for you and that is 318 Simple Areas.dwg. And you can see when you open it up in the model tab, it's a simple office layout. What we're going to do is we're going to go to the top right office here in the office layout, and zoom in nice and tight so that you can see what you're doing. And we're going to generate some very simple polylines and then calculate areas from those polylines. Now the lovely thing about AutoCAD is a polyline, especially a closed one obviously, has an are calculated automatically within AutoCAD. So from a facilities management viewpoint, it's a great way of calculating room areas, usable space, rentable area, overall floor plan area, et cetera. Now I'm going to keep it really simple. In…
