- Welcome to another tip and trick for AutoCAD. We're going to take a look at measuring and calculating room areas today. So for that, we've got a new drawing for you. It's 256 measurecalculatingroomareas.dwg. And you can see it's a floor plan with some dimensions, some grids and furniture and so on. As usual, you can download it from the library to follow along with this particular tips and tricks video. Now, as I mentioned, we're looking at measuring and calculating room areas in this particular tip and trick. So just make sure that you're using the A000 areas layer. It's up near the top there, as you can see, if I scroll up, it's just down below the zero layer, that layer there, you want to be using that one, just so that when we draw any polylines in a moment, they just stand out a little bit on the black background in the model space, in the model tab.
