Basics of IFC models

Basics of IFC models

- [Instructor] When creating an IFC model, we need to include all the basic architectural design elements, all of our engineering assumptions, and the desired locations for those assumptions in the model. So what does that really mean? Basically, we want to create a model and let the engineer know where we want the engineering elements to be located. So whether it's walls, beams, slabs, duct work, and we want to show them how big we think these elements need to be to work with the architecture. So there is a bit of back and forth, but we want to at least let the engineer know what our desires are for the engineering systems. So here's a basic list of items that should be included in your IFC model, and they will change. So from the structural standpoint, we want to make sure all the structural elements are turned on. We want to have all the walls and slabs, any posts and beams, roof elements, doors opening, window…
