The LLM landscape
- At the forefront of the artificial intelligence revolution is a technology you may have heard about called large language models, or LLMs. A large language model is a type of neural network which is a computing system designed like a human brain. Its job is to process information into desired results. In the case of LLMs, they are trained on large quantities of human language, in order to understand how it works. The LLMs can generate text that mimics patterns learned from its training and is able to answer questions much like a human would. Although the LLM isn't capable of original thoughts, it can create material that looks due to us based on the patterns it's learned. We call that generative AI. To do this, LLMs go through several phases of training where the information they learn from is tokenized or converted into numbers that they can process more efficiently.
