- To better understand the Agile mindset, you have to start by looking at the manifesto for Agile software development or what's commonly called the Agile Manifesto. The Agile Manifesto is a set of statements of four values and 12 principles that are intended to help you embrace an Agile mindset. The first part of the manifesto outlines the values. It reads, "We are uncovering better ways of developing software by doing it and helping others do it. Through this work, we have come to value individuals and interactions over processes and tools, working software over comprehensive documentation, customer collaboration over contract negotiation, responding to change over following a plan." That is, while there are value on the items on the right, we value the items on the left more. Notice that these are just the values.
