Recognize when and how to divide a matte for keying
- In this lesson I'd like to point out for you the most common mistake that inexperienced compositors make when dealing with green screen or blue screen keys. Now, you've probably noticed that's it's often the case when you choose a screen color as I've done here, and make no other adjustments you get a result that looks pretty nice right off the bat. It's only when you look more carefully, either by looking at the Matte itself, or perhaps looking at Status view that you see some problems. Now, in the case of this scene there's noise in the background, and there are some holes in the foreground. The holes in the foreground can be solved on the left side of frame, pretty easily. A very minor adjustment of Clip White, and now the only holes that I see are the ones that I want, the ones in the hair. So if I look at the shot at this point it looks pretty nice.
