- At this point, we have a pretty healthy looking matte thanks to Keylight assisted by some simple roto. Now before I complete this shot the Keylight way, I'd like to show you an alternative tool that can be just as effective, if not more so, in color keying the scene. Primatte, which is distributed by Red Giant Software, is an alternative to Keylight that works a whole different way. I'm going to show you how to set it up in few simple steps, and what advantages it has in this specific shot. The area I wanna focus on here is the windshield. And, specifically in the windshield area there is this thumbnail that is not keying properly. Now you can probably guess why that is. If I open up the info panel and move my cursor around, and it helps to turn off the key here, I can see that the areas that are becoming transparent have a lot of green in them, particularly compared with red, and this is giving Keylight trouble.
