- Now that we've examined the fundamentals of keying, let's try a stress test. This shot is a complex mix of just about every type of challenge you can encounter in a green screen shot. The only thing that's really missing is nobody's sitting on the floor. We'll use it to learn why evaluating and breaking down the shot is every bit as important as working on actually keying it. And how to use planning to avoid wasting time with approaches that simply don't work. The place to start is to give the key an initial pass, and so we'll use the usual method for that. I'll switch to Status view here, I think I'll chose a frame where I can see a little bit more of the window behind her. Somewhere in here maybe. I also want to obviously see all of that hair detail. So I'll select my Eyedropper, hold down the option key on a Mac, alt on Windows, and somewhere above this mirror it looks like I get an awful lot of the background without effecting the foreground much differently at all.
