Practicing a learner mindset

- In recent conversations with some colleagues, I've noticed that people often have great intentions when it comes to diversity, inclusion and belonging. And yet some people hesitate to act or don't act at all, due to fear and risk. Yes, fear and risk are part of the path to creating change, but people have expressed their worries to me about making mistakes. They fear being judged, and they perceive a risk of being canceled. On the other hand, I've seen some people make very uncomfortable missteps and then instead of being accountable, they get defensive when others give feedback on these mistakes. It takes bravery and courage for others to speak up and share this feedback. To embed DIBs at your organization, you'll have to embrace a learner mindset in your company culture, where mistakes are possible and people grow, change and heal as a result.
