- As an HR representative, optimizing employee performance is a key aspect of your role. Performance management encompasses various tools and processes aimed at guiding employee behavior and productivity, including job descriptions, feedback mechanisms, reward systems, and disciplinary procedures. I'd be remiss if I didn't share that I've come to believe over the last 15 years that performance management systems, if done right, can solve a whole lot of organizational problems. Doing it right means that there are ongoing feedback loops between managers and their employees where both sides can share what they need from the other, ongoing collaborative conversations about growth and personal goals and communication about what's happening in the organization and how the employee can participate in the team and organizational success, all of that creates employee engagement, job satisfaction, quality performance, and a thriving work environment.
