Warping audio, part 1

- The ability to time stretch audio to fit different tempos is a feature for which Live is well known. Let's talk a bit about how this work and the options available for warping drum clips. So I've got exercise seven from chapter six open, and I'll start by mentioning, or repeating, that the whole idea here is to be able to change the tempo of an audio clip, but we want to be able to do that without changing pitch. And that's something that became available with digital audio. So the question is, how does it work? Well, as you bring an audio clip into Live, it analyzes each of those audio files to determine where the attacks or the transients are located. And it looks at those locations and the regularity of how they happen, and from that information, it calculates a tempo and a length for that clip.
