- In order to create real-time changes to track volume, filter frequencies, or other similar mixer and device parameters, you'll want to know how to use automation. Let's start with adding graphic automation in the arrangement view window. So I've got exercise one from chapter 12 open, and let's hit our tab key to get over to arrangement view. And I want to mention that we'll be looking primarily here at track based automation in the arrange area. But in an upcoming video, we'll also talk about clipped based automation that we can add down here in clip view on the clip envelopes tab, but let's go up and let's increase the track height of a couple of these base tracks. And we're going to need to do that, to be able to see the automation. Once we activate automation mode, which we can do by clicking on the automation mode button, that's right above this top track.
