- [Instructor] Knowing how to connect audio and MIDI hardware is a crucial part of modern music making. Let's talk through what you'll need to do to connect a typical computer-based home studio. Assuming you're setting up your system for the first time, start by installing Ableton Live on your computer. The first time you start the program, you'll need to authorize the program through Ableton's website where you'll need to create an account. In addition to checking for program updates, you should also download the additional content included with your purchase of Ableton. This content is available as Live Packs which include device presets, clips, and samples. You can also download and install this content from the Packs area of Live's browser.
