- There's a small window that shows up in equity work after an assessment has been completed and analyzed, but before an intervention starts getting developed. Most leaders I've worked with don't pause at all during this window, opting to dive straight into coming up with a solution. But by doing that, they skip an underrated but incredibly important step, honoring the vulnerability of those who shared their experiences. Put yourself in the shoes of a worker who might be having a tough time in your organization. Their day-to-day experience might be stressful. Their workload might be high, and they have little free time. But an email came into their inbox asking for 30 minutes of their precious time to complete an equity survey. And perhaps believing that it would help, they put aside that time and filled out the survey honestly and thoroughly.
