- Equity assessment, simply put, is about assessing people's differing experience with a few key outcomes to see if they differ by demographic. For example, if men, women, and nonbinary people have different experiences of manager support or if non-disabled and disabled people have different experiences of wellness at work. But to identify possible demographic disparities in the equity outcomes you're interested in, you'll need to collect data on people's demographics to start. When it comes to equity work, you'll want to collect two different kinds of demographic data: social demographics, and organizational demographics. Social demographic data pertains to categories like race, gender, age, disability, religion, sexuality, social class, nationality, parental status, veteran status, immigration status, and many others.
