Job Description

We are seeking a Sr. Director of Edge Solution Delivery to lead the technological aspects and impacts of the Edge platform programs/projects. We are moving fast and are adding to our outstanding team, and joining McDonald's means thinking big every day and preparing for a career that will impact the world. As a part of our modernization efforts, we are installing Edge servers managed by Google Cloud for faster, low latency analytics and enhancements to our customer facing platforms. This critical program requires strong leadership to lead the technological aspects and impacts of the Edge rollout.

The Sr. Director is responsible for supervising the technical team on Edge incorporating the technology reviews across the ongoing Edge programs/projects as well as the inception and evaluation of new Edge-enabled solutions to ensure alignment with McDonald’s Enterprise Architecture (EA) standards. This role is also expected to bring thought leadership and industry standard processes to McDonalds and provide recommendations for future digital enhancements. This role requires a strong understanding of EA principles, infrastructure, and engineering. Also they will need to have the ability to align transformation efforts with the overall business strategy and ability to foster collaborative relations with both technical and non-technical partners at Senior levels of the organization.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Implement Edge Technical vision, objectives and strategy as part of the Edge program aligning with other peripheral engineering initiatives with business including performance metrics for evaluating and operating the Edge platform.
  • Is responsible for the management and support of the Edge technology and platform through supervising teams, infrastructure architecture, engineering, tools, and processes.
  • Ensure reliability, up-to-date technology, and adherence to IT service management standard methodologies. Also, establish and implement policies for the Edge technical governance and compliance.
  • Handle risks, implement robust security measures, and conduct regular audits and assessments.
  • Effectively manage relationships with key vendors and service providers by establishing robust service level agreements and ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Negotiate Edge technical and platform contracts and oversee vendor performance to create a highly effective and efficient global standard model. This involves influencing senior executives at partner organizations. Also, continuously engage new partners to drive innovation and build solutions that will meet evolving business needs as part of the global Edge technology and platform.
  • Lead and mentor a team of highly skilled leaders and professionals by fostering a culture of diversity, inclusion, excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement. Also ensures the team remains inspired and motivated and aligned with organizational goals through mentoring, coaching and providing career development opportunities.
  • Oversees the technical implementation and pilot activities and results, ensuring adherence to project requirements. Also, oversees the management of sub-workstreams from inception to delivery and supervise project planning, execution, and delivery within scope, budget, and timeline constraints.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in technology, with a focus on infrastructure, engineering, data, cloud and digital solutions in a large multinational organization.
  • Experience influencing, inspiring, and leading hard-working, diverse leaders and teams (>100) of employee and external supplier teams across multiple geographies.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful technical and engineering platform strategies including migration/transition.
  • Advanced technical degree or certifications (e.g., PMO, Agile, Scrum, etc.) would be a plus.
  • Strong technical background in architecture and engineering platforms including platforms and methods.
  • Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience in technology transformation, systems administration, digital technology, engineering, computer science, or other related fields.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with the McDonald’s business model, including intimate knowledge of our markets, market priorities, and key leaders.
  • Capability to identify gaps in technological capabilities and submit requirements to meet identified gaps.
  • Able to prepare and present accurate and timely information to senior leadership regarding program progress and maturity, up to and including the McDonald’s Senior Leadership Team.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including written results, oral presentations, and the ability to facilitate crucial conversations at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to manage and mitigate risks, with a focus on security and compliance.
