It was a joy to be warmly received by Ambassador Randy Berry at the U.S. Embassy in Namibia last week. The visit provided an opportunity to thank the Embassy for its support in facilitating USADF's reentry into Namibia and to celebrate the launch of the Ambassador’s Self Help Grant (ASGH) program—a joint effort between USADF and the Embassy to further support Namibians. Through this partnership, USADF awarded $50,000 to the Nyae Nyae Development Foundation of Namibia (NNDFN) to establish and enhance ten community gardens at local schools, aiming to improve food security in the Tsumkwe constituency. This initiative will improve nutrition, income generation, and sustainable agriculture training in marginalized San communities, benefiting over 1,500 Namibians. It marks a significant step in expanding our impact in Namibia and collaborating with another U.S. Government entity to enhance food security and grassroots economic empowerment in underserved communities. #US #Africa #Namibia #Diplomacy #Development #Partnership #CommunityDevelopment

In a powerful ceremony held in Windhoek, USADF and the Government of Namibia officially launched the Market Access Support Program (MASP), a five-year, $10 million initiative aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of SMEs across Namibia, with a focus on empowering women and youth. 🇺🇸🇳🇦 During the event, our P/CEO Travis Adkins celebrated the collaboration as a significant milestone in USADF’s return to Namibia and honored the late President Hage Geingob, who was instrumental in forming the partnership, by announcing the “Dr. Hage Geingob Award”—an additional $250,000 annual USADF grant for women and youth entrepreneurs in Namibia. The ceremony featured the signing of four inaugural grants, and showcased innovative products from Namibian SMEs supported by the program. This partnership aims to significantly impact Namibian entrepreneurs, supporting them to expand their businesses and contribute to Namibia’s economic prosperity. During a site visit to launch programming in Namibia - our newest country of operation, we were inspired by Timoteus Nangombe, Founder of Possible Trading, who developed the Connect Africa app to support visually and hearing-impaired individuals with innovative accessibility technology. 🇳🇦 Driven by his commitment to helping his visually and hearing-impaired family members as a youth, Timo’s app includes features like document scanning, image browsing, and localized job portals, aiming to improve accessibility and address the 90% unemployment rate among over 60,000 people with disabilities in Namibia. USADF is proud to have awarded a $50K grant to support Possible Trading’s growth and expansion, creating new jobs, most of which are reserved for individuals with disabilities. This partnership underscores our commitment to fostering inclusive socio-economic development and empowering marginalized populations, and we look forward to driving meaningful change alongside Timo and his team. We were excited to return to the Field of Skills and Dreams VTE Academy Omowale Ogunrinde, a standout partner in the USADF- Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) Employability Program, to celebrate the extension of our collaboration with a newly awarded grant. Since 2019, FSD has empowered over 450 individuals through training, financial support and mentorship, with over 80% securing internships, jobs, or starting their own businesses. This new grant will support a twelve-week training program for 400 youth in catering, fashion design, and beauty care, including three-month internships. Last week, we had the pleasure of joining Precious Achiuwa and his team for the opening ceremony of the What If Unlimited Youth and Women Entrepreneurship Initiative Basketball Camp in Lagos, alongside U.S. Consul General Will Stevens. Now in its third year in Port Harcourt, this annual camp made its debut in Lagos, empowering over a thousand young attendees with basketball development as well as life and social skills training. This initiative is the result of an exciting three-way collaboration with Precious Achiuwa, as part of USADF’s ongoing partnership with the NBPA Foundation to jointly fund development projects supported by NBPA members interested in and committed to development in Africa. We are thrilled to announce a new $250K grant award with Reeddi Technologies. With the support of a previous $100K USADF/All On grant in 2020 and technical assistance from our wonderful partners Diamond Development Initiatives, Reeddi successfully deployed 500 power capsules, providing clean, reliable, and affordable electricity to over 1,780 low-income households and businesses in Nigeria.💡 During our recent grant signing ceremony, the power went out, yet the event continued seamlessly, powered by one of Reeddi’s own capsules—a powerful demonstration of their impact on energy access in Lagos.
