Connecting food, agriculture and information technology innovators for thought and action leadership.
About us
The Mixing Bowl connects innovators in Food, Agriculture & Information Technology. Our purpose is to stimulate the adoption of IT innovation to the food and agriculture industries through business-focused dialogue between existing industry players, start-ups and investors, and other food innovators. The Mixing Bowl was first conceived in 2014 by people in Silicon Valley who had seen other industries– such as telecom, auto, finance, fashion, healthcare, and education– connect with Silicon Valley’s IT innovation ecosystem. The Food & Agriculture sectors are among the largest industries in the world, and these sectors need new solutions to feed billions more people in the coming years. The food and agriculture industries need to continue to provide food to people in a safe and efficient manner, and must also respond to new challenges like environmental sustainability, climate change, and changing consumer preferences, including a rising desire for more local and organic foods, greater food information transparency, and more convenience. Silicon Valley is an established hub of IT innovation. It is recognized for its agility and openness, including its willingness to network with other innovators from outside Silicon Valley. In this vein, the Mixing Bowl, while started in Silicon Valley, sees as part of its role to help connect food and agriculture IT innovators from around the world.
