The Magnificent Mile Association would like to express our deepest gratitude to the Chicago Police Department, the Chicago Fire Department, the U.S. Secret Service, and the other law enforcement agencies who ensured a safe and peaceful environment for our city during DNC last week. Their efforts, dedication, and training allowed both residents and visitors to enjoy the festivities without fear. We echo the Chicago Tribune's Editorial Board assessment of Superintendent Larry Snelling and his officers, "In a tense DNC week, Larry Snelling and his men and women in blue have been a credit to Chicago." Great City Club of Chicago luncheon yesterday featuring CPD Superintendent Larry Snelling, interviewed by City Club CEO, Daniel Gibbons. Superintendent Snelling provided valuable insights into the department's safety plan for the DNC and broader crime prevention strategies. He also highlighted the importance of strong partnerships among law enforcement agencies, as well as within the Chicago Police Department. Superintendent Snelling emphasized the need for comprehensive training for both officers and department leaders, and the critical role of increased police visibility in creating a safe city for all. Thank you to 360 CHICAGO for hosting our Association team at a table during this important luncheon.

As Governor JB Pritzker aptly stated during today's DNC kickoff at 360 CHICAGO, Chicago is indeed "the greatest city on earth and we get to show it off!" A huge congratulations to Choose Chicago, the Chicago 2024 Host Committee and their leadership teams for successfully bringing this prestigious event to our city. We also applaud the generous $150K donation the Choose Chicago Foundation received to support hospitality and tourism training programs. Congratulations also to Association Vice Chair Nichole Benolken and her team for hosting an unforgettable DNC kickoff celebration. The Magnificent Mile was the perfect backdrop for such a spectacular event.

To ensure our members are well-informed about the Chicago Democratic National Convention, The Magnificent Mile Association invited key DNC leaders to provide an update on safety and security plans in our second and final DNC Security briefing yesterday. The Association would like to thank Christy George and Maurice Green IV of the Chicago 2024 Host Committee for sharing a comprehensive overview of DNC events and the delegate experience. Since the inception of the DNC Host Committee, Christy and Mo have been steadfast partners in keeping our members updated with the latest information and have been relentless advocates for ensuring the event's success. We also extend our sincere gratitude to Chicago Chief Operating Officer John Roberson for his engaging presentation on the city's DNC preparations. John shared details on the city's DNC readiness plans and the coordination of efforts across several entities including city departments, the United States Secret Service Steering Committee, OEMC, and ten city subcommittees. We were honored to hear from an impressive panel of law enforcement leaders and city officials, including Joel Heffernan (Secret Service), Glen Brooks (Chicago PD), Kelly Carolan (FBI), and Ivan J Capifali, MBA (Chicago Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection). Their overview of the DNC planning process and the collaboration among numerous organizations offered valuable insights into the event's security preparations. Our members received important resources, and all are encourage to download the Chicago OEMC app, the official safety app of the Office of Emergency Management & Communications, City of Chicago. Our DNC Member Briefing was hosted by the prestigious Four Seasons Hotel Chicago. A heartfelt thank you to Laura Castonguay and her team for their exceptional hospitality and for the use of their stunning event space. We also appreciate Board Member Kim Hutto and her team at Encore for delivering top-notch audio-visual services for the event. The Magnificent Mile Association looks forward to joining all of Chicago in welcoming DNC Delegates, visitors, volunteers, and global news media to our city.
