Notion isn't (directly) a spreadsheet substitute. In fact, founders and entrepreneurs use it to: 🗄️ Store and share company documentation ⚡️ Create a simple, minimalistic CRM database 📋 Organize tasks with Kanban boards and to-dos 📊 Set OKRs, track progress, and align team efforts Or that's what I've seen so far from Sync2Sheets users. Google Sheets isn't (directly) a Notion substitute. In fact, founders and entrepreneurs use it for: 📉 Built-in charts, pivot tables, and data visualization 🧮 Formulas and functions to analyze complex data 👁️ Real-time access and easy sharing with a team 🔎 Super detailed financial forecasts and budgets Or that's what I've seen so far from Sync2Sheets users. It's not an either/or scenario. Instead, both tools complement each other well—Notion for managing databases, and Sheets for manipulating databases. Agree?

🥊 Is there such a thing as a rivalry between these two? Because I don't think it's a fair comparison. At all. I'm talking about Notion vs. Google Sheets. I've seen the conversation many times on subreddits. I even wrote about it on the Sync2Sheets blog last year. Heck, I bet my user base has probably compared both once. And I get it. We all want to get the most out of our software. I'm guilty of this awful, overwhelming FOMO myself. Notion vs. Obsidian | Notion vs. ClickUp | Notion vs. Airtable Notion vs. Todoist | Notion vs. Coda | Notion vs. Evernote But over time, I realized that tools are just that… tools. Which you choose depending on specific business needs. Sometimes it's not the all-in-one alternative that trumps all. The decision comes down to pairing the right tools for the right job. Notion + Google Sheets | Notion + ClickUp | Notion + Zapier Notion + Airtable | Notion + Coda | Notion + Obsidian I'd rather shamelessly prioritize the smart combination of tools to grow my business over anything else. Who knows, maybe I'm alone on this one. How's your tech stack? Be honest—is it just one single tool? 👀

Stop paying for zaps (unnecessarily) to sync Notion to Sheets. Don't get me wrong, I'm all about automation—just like most of you. But before choosing between 8 triggers and 24 overwhelming actions, consider using those valuable zaps elsewhere if you need to. Otherwise, you'd end up overspending on Zapier usage: ⚡️ Zap to monitor new pages on Notion ⚡️ Zap to add pages on Google Sheets ⚡️ Zap to keep up with changes on pages ⚡️ Zap to update rows on Google Sheets All this involves manually mapping fields to every Sheet column. With the Sync2Sheets integration, I've fixed the functionality gap of flexible data changes/updates from Notion to Google Sheets™. It was a niche-specific problem for a group of Notion users (including me) managing large databases that required automatic, regular syncs. And you can try it out now for free at sync2sheets(.)com. – 👋 Hey, I'm Leandro. Indie maker. Micro SaaS creator. Founder of Sync2Sheets, Quicktion, and Packs4Coda.

By far the best decision I made for my micro SaaS: (I gotta admit—it's not for everyone's revenue model) Naturally, I wanted to experiment with pricing at some point. So I analyzed the # of Notion database usage under the free plan, and realized that even with 6-hour automatic updates and limited features, most users were totally ok with keeping 1 database synced to Google Sheets. Then, I decided to talk to a few loyal customers who told me: "I don't mind paying. It just hasn't been necessary yet." These misaligned incentives somehow stalled growth. On top of that, Mateo, my little one, was about to arrive. Everything fell into place, and I took my shot. In June 2023, I dropped Sync2Sheets's free plan, and went from 269 paid users ($5.658 MRR) to 396 paid users ($8.375 MRR). Exactly 47.25-48% growth in 3 months, as you can see in the charts. What to do with new users? How to handle inactive ones? What about existing, active users? I planned the transition in stages—I rolled out a 7-day free trial for new users. Then, I emailed folks on the free plan, and asked them to switch to a paid subscription since Sync2Sheets was phasing out the free version. I'm not implying free plans don't work. They can, but it all comes down to whether they fit into your user acquisition strategy, IMO. Ever faced a similar tough call at your company? What was it? P.S. No one asked, but the small drop in Q4 2023 happened when I rebranded the company from Notion2Sheets to Sync2Sheets.

Over the past 3 years, I've seen founders and CEOs sync Notion and Google Sheets for 64 different types of databases—from CRM, PM, and HR use cases to finance, accounting, and ecommerce. Here are 5 examples I personally love of Sync2Sheets in action: 1. Tom Randle from Geckoboard (real-time KPI dashboards) "We use Sync2Sheets to show a Notion table on one of our Geckoboard dashboards. We have our quarterly rocks (goals) on Notion. S2S copies these to Google Sheets. We then use our Sheets integration to add them to our dashboard which then gets posted to Slack once a week." 🟢 S2S displays a Notion table on a Geckoboard dashboard for reporting. 2. Tim Jeffries - Certified Notion Consultant from The Good Cup "I've built practice management solutions for a range of law firms. These firms have huge amounts of data and want to be able to centrally manage that but also run calculations on it. The Notion databases slowed to a crawl once we started doing anything complex. So I do the calculations in Sheets and use Sync2Sheets to bring it back into Notion for them." 🟢 S2S sends calculated data back to Notion for centralized management. 3. Jared C. from Mysteries Monsters (entertainment provider) "It's faster and easier than using Zapier to do the same thing, and it's affordable. I use Notion as a CRM, so S2S helps me pull that data into charts in Sheets, then push back into Notion as live chart data." 🟢 S2S transfers data from Notion to Sheets for chart creation. 4. Dan Gwalter from No-Nonsense Leadership (business consulting) "I track all of my LinkedIn metrics. I create content in AuthoredUp, and post. Once per week I use authoredup's export to CSV to get all posts and metrics. I then use a custom python script to push that into Notion, and use your tooling to sync it to a Google Sheet where I pivot and slice the data, which is then presented in the main dashboard." 🟢 S2S pulls Notion data into Sheets for LinkedIn analytics visualization. 5. Josh Treon from Nomio (managed contract database) "All our commercial data (CRM, Revenue Log, Employee Salaries and Compensation) sits in Notion. The problem is that Notion sucks for commercial analytics. With S2S our data syncs to Google Sheets and our analytics are magically updated. It's the only company that supports syncing relational fields. This is a must-have for our analytics to work." 🟢 S2S exports Notion data to Sheets for better commercial analytics. You can LITERALLY sync ANY Notion database to Sheets with S2S. Am I missing any use cases? What else would you add? - 👋 Hey, I'm Leandro. Indie maker. Micro SaaS creator. I used to export Notion databases the old, manual way: → Download the database(s) in Markdown & CSV. → Open a Sheets document > File > Import > Upload. → Choose CSV file > Replace spreadsheet > Import data. It was rinse and repeat for each column, table, and cell change. Now I export Notion databases the new, automated way: → Use Sync2Sheets add-on from the Google Workspace Marketplace. → Connect my Notion workspace to Google Sheets just once. → Sync databases automatically without lifting a finger. Look, if your company doesn't deal with large databases that need regular updates, the old, manual way is ok. It gets the job done. But when you're serious about business reporting (e.g. CRM tasks) Time is of the essence. I know it, you know it. You can't do it yourself and waste valuable time. You can't afford human errors and inconsistencies. You can't outsource it and hope it's finished on time. Because velocity and timing matters. A lot. And Sync2Sheets, in a way, helps with that. CEOs and founders—what's something you're still doing the old way but wish there was a better, faster way to do it with automation? – 👋 Hi, I'm Leandro. Indie maker. Micro SaaS creator.
