We received a 2024 Altair Enlighten Award from Altair Engineering, which honors sustainability and lightweighting advancements in the automotive industry. Presented during the annual Center for Automotive Research's Management Briefing Seminars, in partnership with Toyota Motor Corporation North America, we earned the runner-up award in the Sustainable Process category for the use of PPG ENVIRO-PRIME® EPIC 200X electrocoat. Just like when she’s rock climbing, Nicole Rakers is laser-focused on finding the best path forward when developing new coatings that protect everything in the world’s most extreme environments. Rakers is the product development supervisor for thermal management, passive fire protection and zinc-rich primers in our Protective and Marine Coatings business. From France and the United Kingdom to Brazil and the United States, our employee volunteers continue to transform schools and learning environments around the world as part of our COLORFUL COMMUNITIES® program’s New Paint for a New Start initiative. In Ruitz, France, more than 40 employees, community volunteers and our customer, MH Peinture, came together to renovate an entire primary school. Volunteers used 350 liters of our paints, including Pantex Bas Carbone, Evolutex Bas Carbone (low carbon) and Elyopur from SEIGNEURIE® by PPG. Meanwhile, in Little Rock, Arkansas, nearly 50 employees from our Protective and Marine Coatings manufacturing facility beautified nearby David Elementary School. Volunteers painted the school’s hallways, lunchroom and playground areas using our PPG Paints SPEEDHIDE® interior paint. More than 150 volunteers in Jacarei, Brazil, partnered with our packaging customer Ardagh to transform a former technical school into a colorful learning environment that is now used as a primary school. The volunteers brightened classrooms, a lunchroom and the schoolyard using more than 1,200 liters of our Renner by PPG paints. In Birstall, United Kingdom, more than 60 volunteers beautified areas of Gomersal Primary School, painting murals, classrooms and an area dedicated to students with special needs. Our digital tools for the automotive refinish industry are revolutionizing the conventional color mixing process. We recently donated our newest PPG LINQ™ solution, including our MOONWALK® automated paint mixing system to schools in Spain, France and Austria. By collaborating with these schools, we are providing hands-on experience to prepare students for future roles in the industry. For food manufacturers, the capacity and versatility of precipitated silicas like PPG FLO-GARD™ can help to increase production efficiency by achieving higher additive concentrations and greater storage and transportation flexibility. New PPG research compared the carrying capacity of our precipitated silica to maltodextrin, a common carrying and bulking agent. Results showed that PPG Flo-Gard silicas provided more than 40 times the carrying capacity of maltodextrin.
