Yesterday at The AI Conference, Menlo’s Amy Wu took the stage to offer her insights on the future of AI as an early-stage VC investing at the forefront of innovation. But that wasn’t all! As a VC judge for the "Startup Showdown," Amy had the opportunity to evaluate groundbreaking solutions from founders harnessing AI to reshape how we live and work. At Menlo, we’re proud to back visionary companies that will define what’s possible with AI. The future is here, and we’re all in.

Last week, Frederic Lardinois broke the news that we led a $5M seed Round in All Hands AI, an exciting new company that will build model-agnostic open-source AI agents that can handle detail, allowing developers to focus more of their time on doing what they do best. Our Joff Redfern led the investment for Menlo, betting on the deep technical chops of the founding team, which includes CEO Robert Brennan and his two co-founders, Xingyao Wang (Chief AI Officer) and Graham Neubig (Chief Scientist). "AI is going to change how developers work completely. But it’s not going to change their preference for adopting open source, especially regarding technology that affects their day-to-day work,” said Joff Redfern, Menlo Ventures and former chief product officer at Atlassian. “By building in the open, All Hands is helping the software engineering community work toward an ideal AI-powered development experience.” cc TechCrunch More here: https://lnkd.in/gyg77cM4

Recently I was in New York for several great interviews with VCs, and for my last interview I got to sit down with Amy Wu, partner at Menlo Ventures. Here’s two things I learned: 🌊 “Ride the wave” - Great firms and companies are built on the back of big technology waves. - Amy, and Menlo Ventures, is looking for “the combination of the best founders who are surfing these great waves.” - Waves are unpredictable. They rarely manifest the way founders expect them to, but the best surfers (and founders) recognize the changes of swell before it can knock them off their board. 🔋 Bring energy when meeting VCs - People don’t remember what you say, they remember how you made them feel. - Energy is the #1 thing Amy looks for when meeting a founder. - Passion about what you are building leaves an impression on an investor, and if done right will leave him or her feeling energized about the conversation as well. - Amy says that obsession about what you’re building will help her better learn about the product and turns a good day for her into a great day. We're excited about Paylocity's planned acquisition of Airbase! This union is poised to transform how HR and finance teams work, providing a unified platform from payroll to procurement. Congrats, Thejo Kote and team! It's been a pleasure to be your partner. Paylocity couldn't ask for a better team or product to bring into their fold. We look forward to seeing the combined power of these two innovative companies reshape the industry.
Big news! We’re thrilled to announce that Airbase will soon be joining forces with Paylocity. Airbase’s mission has always been to improve the lives of those who work in the office of the CFO and help companies control their destiny with better management of their non-payroll spend. Together we will create a powerful, unified experience to manage all spend across finance, payroll, and HR functions alongside Paylocity’s complete HR platform for the modern workforce.
