Next week in Indianapolis, our co-founder and CEO Mark Warner will take the stage at Rally 2024 -- the largest global cross-sector innovation conference. He's speaking about how BioTransformations have the potential to unlock life-changing solutions in health, climate change, energy, food security, agriculture, supply chain resilience and more while also growing the American economy. Other panelists include Genya Dana of BioMADE and Jennifer Walker of Primient, with Aaron Schacht of BiomEdit moderating. Bonus: after the panel, Mark will be signing copies of his book: “Industrial Biotechnology Commercialization Handbook: How to make proteins without animals and chemicals without crude oil”.
About us
Liberation Labs was formed to address the growing fermentation capacity gap in cellular agriculture by providing the industry with the infrastructure to commercialize novel protein manufacturing at the scale and cost structure required by the market. Specifically, Liberation Labs is developing a global network of fit-for-purpose precision fermentation facilities located in the geographies that will drive market access for novel protein companies to commercially succeed, enabling them to achieve price parity with animal proteins. Founded by industry leaders with decades of experience in deployment of precision fermentation facilities and commercial expertise in fermentation market dynamics, our vision is to enable the technology that frees the world from the costs of industrialized agriculture.

The August Issue of Inside #Biomanufacturing is live! In this issue we liken the choice to retrofit an old plant (for cost reasons) to the choice of a flip phone vs a smartphone. Whether it was a flip phone, Blackberry or any other non-smartphone, think back to when you made the switch; did you make the decision based on which one was “capital light”, or was it based on an evaluation of the differences and the decision that the smart phone was materially better in performance and thus worth the additional expense? When you dig into the increased operating expense and weigh it against the incremental #capital, you will quickly find that “the juice isn’t worth the squeeze.”

Incredible to see our 600,000 liter precision #fermentation facility taking shape! When operational, this will bring much needed domestic #biomanufacturing capacity for many different kinds of products. We're focused on partnering with #biotechnology visionaries to commercialize the #bioproducts of the future - foods, materials, and yet to be discovered breakthroughs that will make all of our lives better. And it will happen in Richmond, Indiana.

The July Issue of Inside Biomanufacturing is live! In it we share our lessons learned (and a handy checklist!) in the complex and sometimes daunting process of choosing a site for a biomanufacturing facility. The search involves many factors including cost structure, available incentives and regulatory considerations. Being realistic and pragmatic in what is required is one of the hardest parts of site selection, as it requires both a holistic view of the overall business and project, and the need to winnow down a long list of “wants” to only “must-have” items. Our experience with many site developments confirms that if you are not willing to make tough decisions, you will end up with an “all of the above” plan, which results in a long and often fruitless site selection process. This issue helps you plan and execute an effective site selection process. #biomanufacturing #proteins #manufacturing

A lot can happen in a year! It was nearly one year ago to the day that we broke ground on our 600,000 liter precision #fermentation #biomanufacturing facility in Richmond, Indiana. Needless to say, we've come a long way. Rather than tell you, we thought we'd show you the year in review. Thanks to our incredible team, our investors and partners in construction for executing on this incredible project.

Our co-founder and CEO Mark Warner recently chatted with Alex Crisp at the Future of Foods podcast for a wide ranging discussion on novel #proteins, #biomanufacturing and our 600,000 liter precision #fermentation facility under construction in Richmond, Indiana. The article below at vegconomist - the vegan business magazine includes a partial transcript as well as links to the full recorded interview. Enjoy!

The June Issue of Inside Biomanufacturing is out! In this issue we unveil the secret of Building with Speed. It's Patience. While that may sound counterintuitive, the article dives deep into the difference between shop fabrication (shop-fab) and stick-build when it comes to #biomanufacturing facility construction. The biggest difference? With shop-fab, much of the equipment and "insides" are built offsite, leading many to look at the site and wonder if anything is going on for months. It's the #manufacturing equivalent of a kid on a road trip asking "Are we there yet. Read the piece (including a cool time lapse video) to learn more about why we chose shop-fab.

Our co-founder and CEO Mark Warner will take the Builders Stage next week at #hacksummit for an engaging discussion on strategies for financing First Of a Kind facilities, like our commercial precision #fermentation facility in Indiana. He'll be joined by Lena Thiede, Alexis Houssou, Donovan Maire and Yoann Berno. Should be a fascinating discussion! Thanks Laura Hodgkiss and HackGroup for pulling this together!

Thank you Elaine Watson for taking time out of what was no doubt a packed schedule at SynBioBeta event. Mark is always willing to share his thoughts and insights about how to move the overall #biotechnology industry forward by increasing the capacity of #biomanufacturing facilities in the U.S.
US #biomanufacturing capacity is 40-50 years old and was built for pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and biofuels, says Liberation Labs CEO Mark Warner. It can make the next generation of #bioproducts, he says, “but not at the scale or cost structure that’s needed.” What’s needed, he argues, are modern facilities that can produce everything from enzymes, colors and flavors to dairy proteins, ag biologics and infant formula ingredients, with cost structures that give them a fighting chance to compete. We caught up with Warner at the SynBioBeta conference in San Jose to discuss: - The current state of biomanufacturing capacity in the US. - Building—and funding—the new Liberation Labs site in Richmond, Indiana. - The role of government in advancing the #bioeconomy. - What else—aside from fit-for-purpose biomanufacturing capacity—the industry needs. #foodtech #agtech #microbialfermentation #precisionfermentation #fermentation #syntheticbiology Agronomics Limited
