Fighting for an AIDS-free generation
About us
The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation is a proven leader in the global fight to end HIV and AIDS, and an advocate for children to live full and healthy lives into adulthood. Founded over 30 years ago through a mother’s determination, EGPAF is committed to a comprehensive response to fighting HIV and AIDS through research, global advocacy, strengthening of local health care systems, and growing the capacity of governments and communities in the world’s most affected regions to respond to urgent needs. Each stage of life brings new and different challenges, and we’re driven to see a world where no other mother, child or family is devastated by this disease. This year was a notable year for faith-based organizations at #AIDS2024, with the first ever Interfaith Pre-Conference hosted as an official AIDS Conference event. Reflecting on this, I had a quick Chip Chat, with Francesca Merico about the role of faith leaders in the HIV response.

MSH at #AIDS2024: While the global #HIV response has significantly enhanced prevention and service delivery, it has not sufficiently focused on strengthening health systems. As policymakers and donors increasingly embrace health systems strengthening, the pressing question is whether these transitions will place patients at the center and address the glaring health inequities faced by women, girls, and children. MSH Board Member Magda Robalo shared her thoughts with Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation Pres. and CEO Chip Lyons during the #SatelliteSession, “Make it stronger: How health systems strengthening can improve equity for women and children.” "Children cannot take themselves to the health clinic, they cannot advocate for themselves – someone needs to do it for them. Children will not be taken care of if women are not reached," said Robalo. "By increasing our reach to women, by talking more to women, by looking for those who are still not coming for diagnostics and testing, we would be able to reach out to more children than we are doing." Passionate about people-centered care. Yesterday, EGPAF experts took the stage at #AIDS2024 to discuss an enhanced package of care for people with advanced HIV disease and how this model can address the often complex needs of clients with AHD. Thank you to presenters Anja Giphart, Dr. Appolinaire Tiam, Allan Mayi, Dr. Shalom Dunga, Patricia Fassinou, and CDC's Alex Jordan. Learn more about our approach at https://lnkd.in/ecXQZqUF.
