4 #commodity themed podcasts that I highly recommend to professional peers and aspiring students seeking education, market insights or simply enjoyable listening. All four podcasts’ host produce unique content, thank to their distinct career backgrounds, platforms and interview styles. The way I learn from them is different too, and my personal keyword can give you some ideas. 🤓 1️⃣Strong Source - Hosted by Martijn Bron & Alexander Sterk - Sophisticated coffee chat: with light and insightful conversations ☕️ - Personal top 1 in terms of listening frequency and repetition. As experienced ex-traders, Alex and Martijn engage in casual, intellectually stimulating dialogues with star figures from top companies. Whether you are new to the industry or have years of experience, you will find value in their discussions. 2️⃣Born Scrappy - Hosted by Stuart Kagan - Aim high and stay grounded: balancing visionary ambition with down-to-earth business operations ✨ - While recycle metals is not by definition a commodity (yet!), I doubt anyone can challenge its increasing importance and huge potential in Metals space. Looking into and backstage of the contents, you see a company founder juggling business operations, personal sharing, social media, and latest technology (check out their killer scrap app!). I personally find such business model exiting, modern, and formidable compétions to international trading houses with long histories. 3️⃣Merchant Diary - Hosted by Damien Würsten & Nick Mazda - Harnessing maximum power of social media for business success and industry education 📱 - It is easy to see Damien as a passionate serial entrepreneur in the commodities space, whether you come across him through podcast, newsletter or YouTube. The mix of contents have a strong influencer vibe, as well as relevant and practical insights. To name a few topics: how much capital is needed to start a commodity trading company, what’s the trending product in xx market, how to deal with late payments - all guaranteed to capture attention. 4️⃣The HC Commodities Podcast - Hosted by Paul Chapman & HC Group - The information Walmart for learning about commodities 🛒 - My first reactions to discovering this podcast are: “how have I only discovered it just now?”and “well, I am certainly not going to finish them”. With 222 episodes aired of various topics and guests, you are bond to find episodes of your specific interests. In the end, one can’t really go wrong with any of these podcasts. Huge shout out to all the hosts and teams who make possible these accessible, free and valuable resources, thank you! 🙌 An interesting #suggestion/request to creators: apart from Apple and Spotify, why not consider China’s most popular platform for organic podcasts, Xiao Yuzhou (little universe)? There is a strong and huge base of eager listeners who are restricted by media channel limitations. 😉 #PodcastRecommendations #IndustryInsiders

  • Insights from World Bank's Commodity Markets Outlook (April 2024) Overall Trends: Commodity prices are expected to decline in the next two years, but will still remain about 38% above the levels seen before the pandemic. Supply and Demand Factors: The market is currently experiencing tight supply conditions, which, coupled with modest improvements in economic activity, could lead to significant price fluctuations. Clean Energy Initiatives: The rapid growth in investments for clean energy technologies is creating demand for base metals, significantly impacting their prices. Geopolitical Tensions: Heightened geopolitical tensions are increasing the risks of major price spikes across various commodities. Energy, Agriculture, and Metals: Energy: The energy index is set to decline by 3% in 2024 and a further 4% in 2025, except for oil, which is expected to rise to $84 per barrel in 2024 due to tight supply and geopolitical tensions. Prices are predicted to moderate to $79 per barrel in 2025. Agriculture: Agricultural commodity prices are anticipated to decrease, with food commodities dropping by 6% in 2024 and 4% in 2025. Beverage prices, particularly for coffee and cocoa, will spike this year due to supply shortages but are expected to decrease in 2025. Metals: Metal prices will see little change, with a slight increase driven by demand from clean energy initiatives and recovering industrial activity. Iron ore prices will continue to decline due to reduced demand from the property sector. https://lnkd.in/d3F_Q9en
