From Cal Poly to Paris, four Mustangs represent USA at the Olympics! 🏅 Taylor Spivey, a 2014 architecture alumna and former Mustang swimmer, made her Olympic debut in the women’s triathlon on July 31, placing 10th as the top American. She went on to win a silver medal in the triathlon mixed-team relay on August 4. Taylor credits her time at Cal Poly for shaping her journey: “Being a Mustang distance swimmer while studying architecture was no easy feat, but I will forever cherish those moments… For without them, I wouldn’t have been able to continue to push myself and pursue my goals and become an Olympian.” Christopher Blevins, a 2021 graduate, competed in his second Olympics, placing 13th in the men’s cross-country mountain biking event. Christopher’s journey began at Cal Poly, where his courses and cycling training complemented each other, shaping him into the Olympian he is today. Nate Ngo, a 2010 mathematics graduate, is behind the scenes as the U.S. Men’s National Volleyball team’s technical coordinator. His journey started at Cal Poly, where he honed the skills he now uses to analyze statistics and scout for the team. Finally, alumnus Manny Bautista, who graduated in 1982, serves as the USA Track & Field Men’s Head Manager, continuing his journey that began in Cal Poly’s track and cross-country programs. From the court to the course to behind the scenes, these Mustangs exemplify the spirit of Learn by Doing on the world stage. We’re proud to see them shine! 🌟 Learn more: https://bit.ly/3ZaMe2N #MustangsAtTheOlympics #LearnByDoing #Olympics2024
