Continuing with our Employee Spotlight series, Authentix shines the spotlight on Donna Gavitt-Policz, Brand Protection Sales Director. 1) What is the impact of social media and e-commerce on brand protection, and how can brands mitigate the risks of online selling? Social media and e-commerce have dramatically expanded the reach of counterfeiters, making brand protection more complex. To mitigate these risks, brands should implement advanced AI-driven online monitoring tools to detect and remove counterfeit listings swiftly. Utilizing digital watermarking and blockchain technologies enhances product traceability and authenticity verification, ensuring that consumers can confidently identify genuine products. Moreover, educating consumers about the dangers of counterfeit products and how to recognize authentic items is essential. Brands should also collaborate with social media platforms and e-commerce sites to enforce stringent anti-counterfeiting policies. By adopting these strategies, brands can protect their reputation, ensure consumer safety, and maintain trust in the digital marketplace. 2) What are the latest advancements in on-product authentication technologies, and how can brands leverage these to ensure consumer safety? On-product authentication technologies have made significant strides with advancements in mobile technology, artificial intelligence, blockchain, and the broader digital transformation landscape. For instance, a high-end cosmetics company recently faced a surge in counterfeit products and responded by implementing no-app digital labels and blockchain-based traceability. These technologies allow customers to instantly verify product authenticity by scanning a QR code on the packaging, providing a seamless and secure experience. Additionally, sophisticated covert and overt markers that are exceedingly difficult to replicate have further bolstered their protection strategy. By adopting and integrating these advanced technologies, brands ensure consumer safety, enhance credibility and foster long-term loyalty. 3) How can brands educate their distributors and retailers about the importance of authentication and counterfeit prevention? Brands can effectively educate their distributors and retailers through a comprehensive, multi-layered approach. Firstly, conducting regular training sessions and workshops is crucial. These sessions should cover the latest trends in counterfeiting, methods to identify counterfeit products, and the use of authentication technologies. Equipping distributors and retailers with practical tools and resources is a key aspect of effective education. This includes detailed guides, checklists, and access to authentication tools like UV markers, RFID tags, and blockchain-based tracking systems. Brands should also consider developing an online portal where distributors and retailers can access the latest information, report suspicious activities, and receive immediate support.

Announcement alert! 🌱✨   We're pleased to announce that we have completed our final biofuel blend supply chain trial! This marks the end of a series of trials initiated in July 2022 as part of a larger pilot to develop a framework to provide quality, quantity and GHG abatement assurances for drop-in fuels. Special acknowledgement to our partners: Hapag-Lloyd AG: For partnering with us on this final trial onboard TIHAMA, a 19,870 TEU container vessel. This final trial was our largest yet, involving the bunkering of 4,500 MT B30 blend of FAME and VLSFO. The consumption of this biofuel blend resulted in 27.9% emissions reduction compared to sailing on VLSFO. bp: For providing the B30 biofuel bend to the TIHAMA. The biofuel component comprised neat FAME produced from food waste and is certified to the International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) standard. Authentix: GCMD collaborated with Authentix to develop and deploy a new organic-based tracer to authenticate the origin and verify the amount of FAME present in the blend. The proprietary tracer blended homogeneously with FAME and was detected at expected concentrations at all sampling points along the supply chain. VPS: VPS witnessed the operations at all stages, collected and conducted extensive laboratory tests on samples of the biofuel and biofuel blend collected at pre-determined points along the supply chain to assess quality per industry standards.    For more details on our final trial, check out our press release here: https://lnkd.in/gS95CF8D   Stay tuned as we prepare to share insights from these trials covering issues, such as traceability, biofuel degradation, supply chain optimisation and abatement costs. These findings will culminate in a comprehensive assurance framework to provide guidance on biofuels use, slated for release in the fourth quarter of 2024.
