Avoid icebreaker activities, roleplay and forced contribution. This is surprisingly normalised and even encouraged, but is actively hostile towards some neurodiverse people and those who experience anxiety, and can have a significant and negative impact on wellbeing in the session, and therefore engagement and learning. State this clearly at the start of the session so people know that they won't be put on the spot. Instead focus on building engagement by being engaging! Make the content interesting and encourage involvement organically and in a way that doesn't exclude people.
