First off, there is no such thing as "passing ATS screening". Once you apply, your resume is in the ATS. There are some ATS that will rank resumes based on keywords - however, it's just a ranking and many recruiters report that their ATS does a poor job of ranking candidates. That being said, keywords do matter because humans will look for them on your resume. Look at the qualifications section of the job description. And pick out the qualifications that include specific, objective criteria (years of experience, job titles, education, certifications, computer programs, and profession-related skills). Try to weave those into your resume AND provide context around those keywords.
