Forget about statistics to start with. Approach the meeting like you would any other problem-solving activity. Talk like a non-statistician to get really clear about the problem you are trying to solve using clear non-mathematical English. This is harder than it sounds. Once you identify the problem, identify the range of analytic approaches that you might use to solve it. Analyze offline and come back to a separate meeting to screen-share and workshop. Iterate as needed until you solve the problem.
