How can you create a career management plan that aligns with your values?

Tu Plan de gestión de carrera, debe estar orientado a los valores que te identifiquen. En mi experiencia, he visto muchos profesionales que no son conscientes de sus fortalezas, sus virtudes y valores identitarios. Pregúntale a tu grupo social, que ellos te conocen mas de lo que crees, e inicia a conocerte mejor para que aproveches tus cualidades en el desarrollo de tu plan de carrera profesional.

I have one tool that I swear by to help me manage my career. It's a simple a word document that has 3 questions on it: (1) What excites me? (2) What could I do without? and (3) What are my dealbreakers? I've kept the same word document for 5+ years now, and I update it every few weeks. Over time, I've learned more about myself, been more conscious about my likes and dislikes, and have changes my preferences over the years. It's been a great tool in helping me determine which career and jobs interest me. Plus, whenever a career opportunity unexpectedly pops up, I can look at my list and determine right there in that moment if I should pursue it or not.

Have quality experience The quality of your experience is dependent on what you have learnt and how relevant it is to you or your career. I say this because you often start your career not knowing what you want to do. As you go ahead, you become sure of what you don’t want and begin to form your values around that. It’s only when you have values, you have something to align your career plan to. Don’t underestimate the power of whatever experience you have. Start from where you are, pulling the thread from things that irk you. Change paths if you must when you seem to have reached a dead end but no matter what plan you set, know that it’s the roadmap to lead you to your career goal, while your value is the vehicle that gets you there.

I agree totally. I guess one has to learn how to be street smart when selecting a career. Educated parents would have a lot of power as to what you should do because they would have present reality as a guide and family lineage to consider as well. On the other end you would like to add on what you personally want to do as well.

A career plan is never flawless, and it's particularly not set in stone. From my professional perspective, when you construct your career around your genuine personal values, viewing your job as a means to fulfill your purpose, and capitalize on your strengths, your career path will naturally unfold. As a career coach, I advise being self-aware to the best of your ability, being truthful with yourself, and tuning into your inner voice. Only then can you pinpoint what holds utmost importance in your core values and craft a career that organically aligns with your personal and professional growth :)
