Instrumenting the application (and I assume app server) to provide status metricz through workflow can help in test and even prod when there are problems requiring app state introspection in troubleshooting. Just restarting the app or app server isn’t troubleshooting its procrastination. I am not talking about debugging per se, more like “This works, what conditions changed, when, how.”
