I have always found it helpful to list all the tasks, rank them in 2 categories, 1) easy to complete/perform, 2) complex/complicated to achieve. Then rank the tasks in order of importance based on shareholder buy in. This will allow you to have continuous wins, while achieving long-term goals. You must plan wins along the way or the task becomes more difficult to achieve. Wins create winners and winners overcome obstacles to continue winning.

This is probably the most difficult component to address in leadership. Most people take conversations over them changing as a personal attack or criticism. I find the best approach is to lay out the problem and see if you can get the individual to come up with the idea of personal change. If this approach does not achieve the result, then you have to rip the band-aid off and face the music.
