There is such a diverse range of roles in cybersecurity, diversity of roles means we need people with diversity of thought. Not having a computer science background is not a barrier to being in this industry. It's all about your attitude, not your degree subject.

One of the things that is also important to address is also the transition from sell side (vendors/service provider) to the buy side (customers) in cybersecurity. Plus even among the sell side from professional services moving across to the product vendor side and vice versa. These are all monumental transitions, but having a keen sense of self awareness, and knowing your own strengths and weaknesses will help you steer successfully. while i'm for Cyber experience & exposure, i started my first real cybersecurity role in my 50s, while it took a lot of learning and i'm still learning on the job & off, it's in a related & supporting role. My hiring manager asked how willing was i to hit the books because while i had what it took to do the job, i had no cybersecurity domain knowledge.
