To juggle work-life and deadline shouldn't be a matter in a foreign country when you are a professional and know your job. It's true that in a foreign country, you are expected to be fruitful, to give out results in order to prove that there was no mistake for you to be at that position. You should have a work plan and set objectives with deadlines. You should know how to go about every tasks you are to accomplish and identify more or less your needs to reach those objectives. Due to the fact that you are on foreign land, it might be hard to get the information needed and also people attention to help. But I believe in behavioral therapy. Priorizar tareas es fundamental en el logro de objetivos cuando estás en el extranjero, pues estás cambiando a una nueva cultura y formas de trabajo pero lo importante y lo urgente se tiene que anteponer como un objetivo general de la organización. Dar un tiempo específico para las tareas cotidianas ayuda concentrar el demás tiempo en las tareas específicas que hay que solucionar como primero.

It ensures that while you fulfill your professional responsibilities, you also have ample time to explore and enjoy your new surroundings. This balance is essential for personal growth and making the most of your time abroad.

When working abroad and with colleagues in multiple timezones, make sure to align on availability and working hours to avoid confusion and to stay on track. Not only do you need to provide your working hours, but also take into consideration your colleagues' working hours for better planning and to manage stakeholder expectations. Also keep in mind that some countries have a "Right to Disconnect" law that allows staff to not respond to work requests after hours and on weekends or statutory holidays. If anything does change make sure to clearly communicate it with your team and ensure they do the same for you and others. Most of all, when in doubt ask questions or reconfirm details as needed.

And I would also add: ask for advices to local colleagues : what do they do during their weekends, what do they recommend you do, what is typical food to try, what are the main events and celebrations. That way you can fully embrace your experience abroad.

I know it's easy said, but sometimes challenging to manage. Value your personal life (at least the same level as your career progress) abroad - explore your energy and experiment how you can get from both the most. Lastly, if you are overwhelmed by juggling the work and life abroad, talk to someone about it. Communicating what we experience is so powerful!

I also try to enjoy the struggle. By that I mean, I will feel awkward, not in line with the others on several aspects. Accepting it and even enjoying it by seeing it as an experiment to learn different ways of doing things and different perspectives makes it a lot more fun and less stressful.

Because in such situation we tend to choose to extend our working hours. it is in my opinion even more important to be clear with the needs such decision fulfills in myself and not only to serve the company.
