Here's how you can juggle creativity and daily responsibilities as an executive.

Having a daily todo list always works for me. Prioritising tasks is very important as it helps you to stay on track and check your productivity. What makes it fun is having a shared todo list with your friends so that they also push you to achieve your daily goals and vice versa. Once, daily tasks are dealt with, it gives space for you to be creative with a light and peaceful mind.

As an executive, you may balance creativity and daily responsibilities by scheduling time for innovation in between mundane chores. Delegate effectively to empower team members and clear mental space. Create a friendly environment that promotes risk-taking and idea exchange. Structured frameworks can help you make better decisions and prioritise your creative tasks. Maintain flexibility in response to market changes while keeping a long-term perspective. One of the things i find helpful is having schedule the most urgent and important tasks first on your to do list.Understand when your mind works best and schedule your tasks accordingly. I find mornings easier and my mind is clear then. As such i handle most urgent tasks in the morning.My afternoons are best for creativity and this also works to celebrate myselft for tasks completed.

For me, Chronodex works perfectly. You can see that your time slots are just a circle, like the face of a watch, and you have to put the main things there. You're limited by this circle, so you prioritize important tasks because you can't fit everything in. Basically, Chronodex is a visual system where you plan your day in a circular format, dividing it into hourly sectors. The best part is that at the end of the day, you can easily check if everything was completed and reflect on what was done. Honestly, with this system, I get more done than with a simple daily planner. Plus, being a visual person, I find it very attractive and engaging!

When you are creative by nature (as opposed to those who need to turn on that switch when needed), the creative elements come naturally even when performing mundane and urgent tasks. So, devoting one's attention to priority tasks is absolutely the right thing to do. When you get to a stage where creativity is first nature, this question no longer needs to be asked.

Once again, a naturally creative person need not "schedule" time for creativity. So, for the rest of the world, rather than dedicating time for creativity, it helps for the naturally creative person(s) to put bread crumps leading to creative elements. By doing this, there is no need for dedicated time for creativity. It can open doors to creative thinking any time.

In our company, we had a morning routine that encouraged creativity. Before talking to anyone or checking our devices, we painted within a circle on a blank sheet for 10 minutes. Initially, I didn't notice much difference, but after a few weeks, my mood improved and I became more focused, great work ideas followed. Creativity is NOT scheduled and neither can it be forced. So blocking out a specific time during the day, isn’t an effective way. For creative thinkers, a picket sized diary or the notes app in their phone, is their pal. Whenever an idea comes in your mind, just jot it down and look back at it later to further think about it. The creativity engine has to cut through every constraint. If I know what these constraints are from the start, I would again highlight them so that the team can factor them into their plans. Where needed, I would highlight specific (few) constraints that must be overcome or which are non-negotiable. Successful outcomes is all we need at the end of the day.

Constraints or limitations are not always negative. Recognizing them early allows us to devise the best solutions for our situation. We can view constraints as challenges to overcome in our quest for optimal solutions. Often, these limitations spark greater creativity, leading to innovative and effective outcomes.

I believe daily work often follows a routine, but some days I feel eager to try new things. During those times, I pour my thoughts into my work, and new ideas emerge. This process brings me joy both in the moment and afterward

In training my team on creative problem-solving, I would highlight two key elements - curiosity and courage. Step back and look at the bigger picture. Where does it come from and where is it going? Why do people react the way they do? Sometimes we need to seek the opinion of senior management or the rule-makers. Constantly ask "why?", "so what?" and "what if?". Never accept norms to be a reason something cannot be done.

After identifying the problems, the next step I encourage myself and my team to take is to seek inspiration. Inspiration can come from various sources—reading new material, watching something intriguing, or observing how others tackle similar challenges. By adopting these ideas and making necessary improvements, we can tailor solutions that are suitable for our unique circumstances. This approach not only fosters creativity but also ensures that we continuously evolve and innovate.

Stay curious and open to new ideas. Read widely, attend workshops, and engage in conversations that challenge your thinking and spark creativity.

Curiosity is a dual edged sword and would produce positive outcomes if only you know how to swing it. A curious mind set poised for continuous improvement would produce positive outcomes. Be sure of the reason for your curiosity, be honest to be sure it is aimed at continuous improvement or learning.

Take time to reflect on your experiences and learn from them. Regular reflection helps you understand what works, what doesn’t, and how you can improve.

Schedule, Schedule, Schedule. The greatest ideas come at random times, but it is absolutely key that you have an allotted time to share and discuss them. It's wonderful to finally solve that UI issue 20 minutes into your shower karaoke session but there needs to be a dedicated time to work with a team on building it up.
