Here's how you can inquire during a vocal coaching interview.

I’d find recordings of theirs and see if their style is one you aspire to. Personality counts as well- can you feel supported by this person while you’re in a vulnerable situation where your voice is exposed and judged?

It’s very hard to define vocal coaching, I came from a father who was a musical genius. He had a natural ability for singing his vocals were mind blowing in. He had the natural ability. It’s just a natural ability. You have to hear things that the normal person can’t hear when I say that I mean timing, range vocal range and singing off key. Not everybody can sing and that’s a fact in today’s world people think they know what a good singer is oh that sounds amazing. What they don’t know is the many tricks that vocalist use that make them sound amazing it’s called Verbato. So to sum it up since I have a little character is vocal coaching, only enhances the natural ability of singing that you are born with.

A person who can perform well and has many degrees, does not necessarily have the ability to teach/coach. Style is irrelevant. Technique applies to all styles. So how do you pick the right vocal coach? Ask if they've studied vocal pedagogy. Ask them a bit about what they listen to on their downtime verses the type of music they actually perform. You want a coach who understands that versatility is a sign of being musically informed. One who does not carry baggage from their own negative experiences. You want them to be confident and able to communicate with you on your level. They should have a sense of humor, be an ally and cheerleader, and have limitless expectations, because you want to feel motivated & energized after each lesson!

Para mim, em grande parte, quem vai dizer se um professor é bom de fato é o sucesso do aluno. Ensinar, incentivar, cobrar, e acompanhar o desenvolvimento dele. Isso também vai fazer com quem outras pessoas queiram trabalhar com esse profissional.

Parents need to slow down their expectations of children's musical development. Music is a life-long lifestyle. It requires lifestyle adjustments to integrate it in a healthy way. You want your child to have positive associations with music and learning and performing. Not all minds develop at the same time. A child who is unable to sing well at age five can evolve into a teen with great relative pitch if exposed to the culture of singing. Children are not show ponies. They are people who are about to embark on the toughest part of life-- growing up. Make music fun, challenging, but most of all - uplifting and positive and a safe space. Sing with them!
