Here's how to keep everyone on the same page about deadlines: 🧿 Centralized Source: Utilize a shared project management tool or calendar. Setting clear expectations and timeline is absolutely crucial in the success of meeting deadlines. Checking in consistently and not only reminding of the deadline ahead, but where the progress lies and what additional steps are needed to be taken for successful completion. What are the current issues and have we brainstormed solutions? What do we foresee happening that may delay progress? How do we forecast certain shifts that might bring about a potential timeline change and what actions will be taken to meet the deadline? Constant feedback and problem solving skills are crucial in this area with everyone understanding the how’s and why’s of the project.

Every project must have predefined OKR's for tracking and measurement. This increases the uniformity of efforts from team members.

We might think of providing regular updates as top-down or from manager / supervisor down. That's only part of it. Updates need to travel up too. What I mean is that no matter who we are on the team, if anyone ever asks us for an update, that's a telltale sign that we're not communicating often enough or communicating enough detail. Each person we update needs info and they all take it a little differently. Some like detail, some like just the broad strokes. It's our job to figure that out and then understand how best to get that info, in that format, to them and how often. Luckily there are plenty it's a lot but it is not complicated and the benefit far outweighs the effort to get there.

Almost everyone understands that deadlines change. Sometimes they come forward for unforeseen reasons. Sometimes, often, they are pushed back. Sometimes they were never that strict in the first place. Whatever the reason, the only way you can expect everyone to be on the same page is to call out any changes and milestone markers (one month out, two weeks out, etc.) Another thing to consider is to share context where possible as to why changes happen. It won’t always affect the way of the speed the work is completed, but helps everyone feel they are on the same team.

Communication is key when working on team projects. Things can happen that affect the timeline and for that, everyone needs to be able to share what's going on. People should be able to ask for help, to let their managers know if they are any roadblocks they need to be moved and to provide context of all situations. What has worked best for me is to have regular meetings (once or twice per week) during the project to make sure everyone is aligned and to provide the space for issues to be brought.

All of these are important. But regular check ins/ updates is really the only way to manage if things are on track, if anyone has questions or confusion, to identify any risks or road blocks, to reiterate the timeline you are working towards and the importance of hitting that timeline, etc. You don’t want these so often it’s counterproductive, but regular enough that there are updates to share and people have had time to make meaningful progress on their tasks.

I encountered issues with X-ray tube testing using a standard dose meter, which resulted in subpar image quality despite meeting dose requirements. Switching to the RTI Cobia Dose Meter, I analyzed dose and kV graphs and found that underdosing still produced excellent images.
