I am a big fan of repurposing idle equipment. It helps industries make the most of their tools and expertise to maximize the potential of their existing equipment. It is avoidance of a substantial capital expenditure associated with new machinery while still achieving top performance. For instance, what about reusing a small agitator tank that has been scrapped into a knock-out pot for distilling tower? Being able to anticipate what this facility might become is often left out of the planning process. How often do we see buildings that used to be churches, schools, malls or something other than what they’re being used for now? In an rapidly changing market space, being able to anticipate what a space might need to become can add a lot of value to a renovation.
