Don’t shy away from voicing necessary changes or improvements. Being a proactive advocate shows leadership and commitment to the organization's growth. In my previous project, I initiated a weekly team meeting where I shared insights on industry trends and encouraged team members to contribute their ideas. This not only fostered a culture of open communication but also highlighted my role as a leader who values collaborative problem-solving.

Highlighting the Impact and Results of a project, team goals, and outcomes is important. Use "we" language to describe the positive results. Your leadership will be showcased through how you lead a team to accomplish meaningful outcomes.

From experience, being an idea bridge creates leadership opportunities. While everyone is sharing their insights, who is combining these individual ideas into a possible solution? This is one surefire way to get noticed.

Active participation in meetings is a great way to showcase leadership skills. Contributing thoughtfully and confidently demonstrates your ability to think critically and solve problems. It’s important to strike a balance between speaking up and listening, ensuring your contributions are meaningful and relevant. This approach not only highlights your leadership potential but also fosters a collaborative and productive team environment.

Shine Through Communication: Articulate Your Ideas Clearly: When presenting your ideas or solutions, do so confidently and clearly. Organize your thoughts, use concise language, and anticipate potential questions. Actively Listen and Collaborate: Effective leadership is not a one-man show. Actively listen to your colleagues' ideas, collaborate effectively, and build consensus when making decisions. Provide Constructive Feedback: When offering feedback, focus on solutions and positive reinforcement. Frame your feedback in a way that helps your colleagues improve and learn.

Volunteer to lead important projects or take ownership of tasks that align with your strengths. Successfully managing projects demonstrates your ability to drive results and inspire your team. Ensure that the projects you lead are completed on time and within budget. Show how your leadership directly impacts the success of the project. By setting clear goals and regularly updating stakeholders, I was able to streamline the process and improve client satisfaction, which was recognized in performance reviews.

No es fácil liderar proyectos. La carga y responsabilidad suelen ser desafiantes y a veces confrontativas. Pero considero que como seres humanos: algo nos impulsa , una voz que nos hace crecer y aceptar los retos. que este tipo de tareas nos presentan. Y ya sea que ese proyecto termine siendo exitoso o no, siempre nos deja ganancia.

The best thing to do is to be pro-active and ideally you are acting as a lead before you have the formal title. Being a mentor or challenge partner for your peers on your team, or ideally, a different team/region. Another thing to do is to get involved in projects where your skills can help. A mistake I often see if people trying to get involved in too many things just to get exposure when they really can't add too much value and it become a distraction to their core role. This can range from volunteering to serve on steering committees or something as simple of consistently providing feedback and ideas that come along with potential solutions.

Actively seek opportunities to mentor colleagues or new team members. Share your knowledge and experiences to help others grow professionally. Be approachable and available for advice. Support your mentees in achieving their goals and celebrate their successes. I took on a mentorship role for a junior colleague who was new to the industry. By providing regular feedback and career advice, I helped them build confidence and improve their skills, which was acknowledged by both the colleague and management.

Celebrate their successes publicly, share your expertise, and foster collaboration among team members. Provide constructive feedback and lead by example, demonstrating the behaviors and work ethic you expect from your mentees.

Establish connections with colleagues across different departments. Building strong relationships can help you understand various perspectives and enhance your influence within the organization. Encourage teamwork and create opportunities for others to collaborate with you on projects. I organized inter-departmental workshops to address common challenges and brainstorm solutions. This not only improved collaboration but also showcased my ability to connect and work effectively with different teams.

Building strong relationships with colleagues is essential for amplifying your leadership presence. Being approachable and supportive fosters trust and collaboration, making it more likely for others to recognise and advocate for your leadership qualities. These connections can open doors to new opportunities where you can showcase and further develop your leadership skills.

Generar un espacio estable de relacionamiento entre distintos sectores es una practica que hace crecer tanto a la empresa como a sus mandos medios. En mi experiencia, no solo nutre y soluciona la comunicación dentro del sector. Si generamos vínculos con sectores que posean distintos intereses provoca un aprendizaje superador.

Regularly ask for feedback from peers, supervisors, and team members. Use this feedback to improve your leadership approach and demonstrate a commitment to personal growth. Show that you value feedback by making visible changes based on the input you receive. After receiving feedback about my communication style, I took a public speaking course and actively practiced clearer, more concise communication. The improvements were noted in subsequent performance reviews and team interactions.

Feedback is more effective when there are clear KPI's to measure. Set clear personal leadership goals so that when the feedback comes, you know if you're making progress or not.

Choose those results you are proud of (so proud of!) They lite you up and the impact(s) you had where you learned the most, worked with others, had to make a tough call, learned the hard lesson. Take time to align how/where these results align to the strategies, goals, values & mission that impacted your customers and people. When you can do a quick “T” chart where on the left, jot down what your most proud of and on the right of the chart, the alignment and impact it’s a great way to reflect. Share that with your leader, key stakeholders, ask for their thoughts, what else is missing. We’d be surprised how many people will remember the conversation and who start speaking about your impact in the spaces and places you may not be in.

Struggling to communicate your leadership abilities at work can be challenging, but I found that taking initiative on projects and volunteering for additional responsibilities helped me demonstrate my willingness to lead. Regularly updating my manager and team on my progress with quantifiable metrics made my achievements more visible. Seeking feedback and acting on it showed my commitment to growth, while mentoring colleagues highlighted my ability to support and uplift others.

Remember Leadership is about service. Do you genuinely want to serve others and proffer solutions or it's just about the title? Have the right mindset going in and you'll find immense opportunities to lead in unconventional situations.
