This is a loaded question with an incorrect starting point. Instead of being hung up on labeling (eg. entrepreneur), start with the mindset of solving a major market problem. That'll ensure a decent-sized hungry market. Follow your results (ie. what you do well), instead of your passion. Then go model someone who has already achieved what you want to achieve. The secret is to do what they do, not what they say, to get similar results. Finally, surround yourself with winners and positive supportive people, because we become who we hang out with all day long. Bonus tip: Make sure you are crazy enough because entrepreneurship is not for the faint-hearted:)

Entrepreneurs must think like one which means to be innovative, solve problems, and stay relevant to the marketplace. In my 34 years in business as an entrepreneur this has helped me build a sustainable performance consulting business. Having a clear vision, a strategic and business plan are key ingredients for success. It is important to focus on a few things and get great at what you do so your clients and customers can understand your brand and value what you bring to the marketplace. Finally, I tell new entrepreneurs that they have to manage the three elements of the business - the core offerings, new business development, and the back-office work. Entrepreneurs fail when they overlook their back office or have poor infrastructure.

Outline steps needed to achieve your goals. Identify necessary resources and allocate them effectively. Set realistic timelines for each part of your strategy. Anticipate and plan for potential roadblocks. Develop action plans for goals like expanding your customer base.

The things that spring to mind in this obvious topic are the following: 1. Validate! any plan needs testing in any form to validate its assumption(s). Never cut back on this - saves you big time later on. (learned this the hard way) 2. No plan without a realistic budget (small or large) - to check if you have the cash… (handy) and later on to check if you’re going the right direction and not overspending 3. Evaluation. Take time to look back at how the project went / is going down, what the steps resulted in and learn from your metrics! then adapt :)

Maintaining flexibility is key; if a particular approach isn't yielding the expected results, be prepared to pivot and explore new strategies or tactics. Monitoring progress is a critical component of successful execution. It involves establishing clear Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that directly align with your SMART goals and regularly assessing them to track your advancement. These metrics serve as benchmarks, providing valuable insights into the effectiveness of your strategies and the overall health of your business. By consistently reviewing your KPIs, you gain a deeper understanding of what's working well and where improvements are needed. If you find that you're not meeting your targets, conducting a thorough analysis helps pinpoint the root causes and enables you to pivot or refine your strategies accordingly.

From my experience and observations of emerging entrepreneurs in the healthcare sector; especially during the pandemic, I found that rapid agile adaptation and its sustainability lacked an equally effective approach.

People first! You will need a highly motivated and performing team. This meand attracting people that know more and achieve the goals better/faster then you could have done alone… Inspire them (vision, purpose) Define clear roles & expectations Appecriate them for who they are Learn and grow together (also through feedback) Create great routines To do this right make sure you are involved jn this yourself!
