In my view Promotion is more important in long term in comparison to raise which is long term. In fact both are equally important but with the promotion in long term the raise would also come automatically. Moreover, with the promotion there would be additional opportunities to learn and grow within the existing organisation as well it would also add value to your resume. Promotion would increase your chances of getting visibility and enhance your skills and knowledge which would make you more successful!

Obviously promotion of an individual brings success, fame, prosperity and high rise in life, in job and overall one experiences every challenges and it's results, may be sweet & sour.
