In my opinion there is a lot of variance depending on WHEN the interview is completed. If done in the morning, I would say aiming for an afternoon/EOD thank-you note is ideal. However, if your interview is completed sometime in the late afternoon close to the EOD, I would recommend having something sent out (or scheduled to send) right at the beginning of the next morning. Last weird nuance: If specifically completed on a late afternoon/near EOD on a Friday, I suggest having something sent out early Monday morning so that it is at the top of the inbox to start their week and isn't buried in the weekend junk mail.

As soon as you're able to send it, ideally before the end of the day of that interview! The quicker your thank you note gets to the inbox of your interviewing team, the more you're likely you'll leave a lasting impression on the hiring manager.

Eu concordo totalmente ser por email, caso o entrevistador tenha dado essa informação. Em caso negativo, mandar uma mensagem pelo perfil do Linkedin é uma ótima opção. Lembre-se sempre de interagir, comentar e curtir as publicações do entrevistador, para não parecer interesseiro.
