How can you help team members maintain positive relationships after conflicts?

Acknowledging the conflict is the most crucial step here. Leaders should not assume or expect that there will never be conflicts between team members. The important thing is to set expectations on how these conflicts should be addressed and what is and is not acceptable. Maintaining respect and professionalism should be top of mind. It is also crucial to create a safe space for discussions to happen about what is causing the conflict. These conversations should focus on the facts, avoiding opinions on the people as much as possible, and aim to address the root cause of the conflict.

Meiner Erfahrung nach ist es bei Team-Konflikten wichtig, zu prüfen, ob es sich tatsächlich um einen Teamkonflikt handelt oder aber einen Konflikt zwischen einzelnen Personen der auf das Team ausstrahlt. Hier wäre meine Empfehlung zunächst zu einer Konfliktklärung im kleinsten Kreis einzuladen.

In my experience, a critical step here is what I call "Mapping needs and values". Two triggers for conflict are unmet needs (e.g. the need to feel heard) and unclear or clashing values. When we know more about the other person--specifically what they need, what they believe, and what's important to them--it helps us move to the mapping of wins that result in the "win-win compromise."

One thing that I have found that helps is to reconnect on the common goals and values and establish a mutually compatible way to working on strengthening the points of disconnect/conflict, so things do not fester.

One thing to remember as the facilitator of this win-win solution is to help the parties contribute to the solution, versus creating one as the facilitator. Once both parties are able to voice their perspectives, help them see how working together on a solution not only makes it a win-win, but they are already on the path to re-collaborating in the future. If they can wok together on resolving this conflict, there is hope for the future.

Following up is a great way to show those involved that you heard them and that you're invested in the team's cohesion and future. A few tips include asking open-ended questions, meeting individually and as a team, and providing resources to continue the work.

Fostering a team culture of accountability, humility, and curiosity is key. A positive team culture can only be achieved through continued trust building. Take time to celebrate the learnings, risks, and successes of the team in an authentic way.

Facilitating skills are constantly developing because one group is not the same as the next. For example, one team could be more talkative about the conflict than another team. As a facilitator, become comfortable pivoting when needed, and that requires being comfortable with challenges. As you're developing your skills, observe others, ask for feedback, and look into communities that focus on facilitation and conflict resolution.

It comes down to company culture. If you have a positive environment where employees are valued and respected but CELEBRATED, there are in to your respect. Employees after all are the reason the institution exists in the first place. Your employees of your place them first. They will do way more in their hearts to work than anything else because they know you respect them. This culture makes it easy to retain employees more than money, gives you a positive reputation in business environment. And you will establish a natural draw for hiring new employees. Word of mouth is THE most important advertising you and do because it real, live and digitally everywhere.
