Here's how you can showcase your value to the organization through performance evaluations.

During performance evaluations, be prepared to be honest about how you feel your workflow is. Your supervisor will point out quite a bit to you in a short meeting, so it's important to keep your head on straight. Listen to what is being documented, learn from your mistakes, actively pursue a plan to implement to fix your mistakes, and be assertive when needed. Your voice is important to your team and your supervisor will recognize when things need to be brought up and discussed.

I have had the privilege of working with marginalized communities in remote areas, where limited transportation and communication pose significant challenges. A notable instance involved a rural family whose grandfather built a large rainwater reservoir, now serving over 100 descendants. Despite their need for more reservoirs, community rules prevent additional construction, causing many families to migrate to urban areas for better water access. This situation highlights the necessity for improved resource management and community adaptation. Documenting such experiences is crucial for understanding these challenges and developing strategies to enhance living conditions for marginalized communities.

To enhance community production effectively, it is crucial to respect technical interventions. For instance, humanitarian agents assisting crop-dependent communities must analyze available resources beyond fertile soil, such as water availability, which is scarce for Somali farmers and globally. Often, communities in need may sell or consume seeds distributed by humanitarian efforts due to immediate food shortages. To prevent this, a smart plan is necessary. Providing a combination of seeds and a six-month supply of food ensures that households can survive and wait for crop production without selling their assets or consuming the seeds. This approach, without changing the project's scope, is essential for genuinely aiding the communities.

When setting goals, keep in mind that you only have eight hours in a work day. You will not get to everything in your plan! Be patient and give yourself some grace. What is the most important duty you have to complete as a priority? What's the second? Prioritizing your tasks will help you utilize time management in completing everything in your plan! Make it a goal to be the best you can be and you will be satisfied with the results!

What are some things you can do that your coworkers do throughout their day? Asking for their feedback on how they do their daily duties can be useful in creating a better workplan for yourself, if needed. Understanding someone's way of doing things shows you that you can contribute toward better cooperation amongst your team and create better comradery toward the same mission. Work together to create symmetry and you will be surprised at how much it can affect your positive attitudes toward your work!

Leveraging strengths as a form of communication is essential is showcasing your ability to adapt while developing your personal skills effectively. Ask yourself these questions regularly. What are my strengths? What my weaknesses? How can I improve my weaknesses? How can I improve my strengths? Just using this simple exercise can help you understand your personal abilities, strengths, and weaknesses on a deeper level, allowing you the ability to adapt and improve.

From my side I would also add additional item: Integrate cross-departmental collaboration into your performance review. Highlight instances where working with other departments has amplified your impact. Demonstrating your ability to build relationships and leverage resources across the organization showcases your strategic thinking and enhances your value to the company. This approach not only addresses immediate environmental goals but also promotes a culture of sustainability throughout the organization.
