Now that he had a new offer where he thought his actual worth was of 30%, the 24% hike in current employment bothered him. In absolute terms he has earned only 6% increment for himself. Had he asked for 40% from the new employer, hopefully he would have got it. From this story, we can see that we fail to value ourself at time required and end up accepting offers less than our worth.
